Overview
Christ (Deemed-to-be University), formerly called Christ University (CU), was established as Christ College in 1969. The institute was born out of the educational vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara (educationist and social reformer). Christ Deemed-to-be-University made its humble beginning as Christ College with 4-programs, 379 candidates, 28 teachings, and non-teaching staff. Christ University began offering multiple postgraduate programs starting from 1990. The University undertook diverse initiatives to promote higher education in India. It adopts worldly higher education practices with the assistance of dedicated and creative staff. With the introduction of innovative and latest curriculum, Christ imposes academic discipline and holistic education.
Founded in 1969, the UGC conferred Autonomy to Christ College in 2004 and identified CU as an institute with potential for excellence in 2006. Green Campus:
For many years, Christ campuses have been identified by civic authorities for their aesthetic landscapes, preservation of flora and fauna, and sustainable green initiatives of reducing, recycling, and recharging.
The garbage disposal of the university is based on the garbage segregation at source, water, and paper which are recycled. The rainwater harvesting makes sure that all-natural and manmade aquatics are recharged.

The Student Accommodation Services offered at Christ University, Bangalore has well-furnished residential halls for non-resident students. Christ University hostel facilities focus mainly on the students' overall holistic development and provide them with a nurturing home away from home.
The service helps the students achieve academic success and allows their participation in developing activities such as Extra/ Co-curricular activities and sports activities.
The residence hall aims at developing leadership, personal, intrapersonal, and cultural competence among the residing candidates. Their stay at the residence provides them with multiple experiences to learn to be independent and manage their struggles. Christ Deemed-to-be-University offers student accommodation services on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The student accommodation facilities’ admission can be obtained only after confirming the admission for the preferred program and stream. It is to be noted that there is no mess facility available in residence. However, students can avail themselves of the facilities from the cafeteria and eateries from the campus. Admission to the hostel is for one year only. The re-admission to the hostel is based on performance, discipline, and active participation in academics, sports, and other activities.
Library and Information Centre:
The Christ University Library and the Information Centre at Christ University, Bangalore works round the clock, since teaching and learning here is research-based. All university campuses have multi-disciplinary libraries with well-stocked books and journals.
The students at the university can access books and information from any book or journal article across the campuses online. Each student is given unique identification numbers for this purpose.
Health and Wellness:
The University has medical centres with qualified doctors and nurses with ambulance service on all the campuses. Christ University, Bangalore gives paramount importance to the students mental and physical well-being.
Students here can also approach counsellors for guidance and comfort for their mental health. All Christ University campuses are staffed adequately with well-being specialists. The institute maintains strict professional confidentiality in the transaction between the students and the specialists.
